Sheriff Ken J. Mascara is committed to serving the citizens of Saint Lucie County utilizing the most efficient methods possible.  The utilization of citizens as patrol members is a proven and efficient method of preventing crime in communities through the establishment of Citizen's Observation Patrol.

CITIZENS OBSERVATION PATROL (C.O.P.)

The C.O.P. is a group of volunteers that patrol designated areas.  The patrol volunteers observe and report suspicious activity, people, or objects.  Check vacation or seasonal un-occupied homes, make contact with elderly or infirm individuals to ensure their well-being, and perform other related functions as my be delegated by the Sheriff for the community.

STANDARDS FOR MEMBERSHIP 

An individual may be appointed as a Citizens Observer by meeting the required application guidelines:
bullet Background Check
bullet Must be at least twenty-one years of age
bullet Completion of the C.O.P. 16 hour training course
bullet Any other required training as prescribed by the Saint Lucie County Sheriffs Office
